Checking In 4

Autumn Hillside, copyright Rose Welty 2017

Right outside my window just now was a goldfinch, eating the seeds from a liquid amber tree. It reminds of years past when I kept my camera handy for moments just like that. I have drawn and painted a number of goldfinch over the years. Now there is a bluebird sunning himself. Bird watching can be quite addicting!

I showed those tantalizing “before” pictures last time, but I am not quite finished with getting the studio together yet, so I can’t post the “after” pics yet. So, to tide you over, above is a painting I did just before the construction began. It sold just before Thanksgiving. This is the piece when all of the experimenting I’ve been doing this year came together. I finally felt I was able to get out what has been in my head.
