In all of art, portraits have always had the biggest attraction for me. I’m fascinated to see what you can tell about a person just from how they look. Appearances can always be deceiving, but I believe that our habits and personality do play a role in how we look – perhaps not to a camera, but definitely through the interpretive eyes of the artist.
I’m thrilled you are interested in commissioning a portrait. As I said above, they are my favorite form of art to produce.
Price Details
For an 8in x 10in or 9in x 12in graphite portrait of a single individual, I charge $100. To add a second person to a 9in x 12in portrait, please add $50.
To protect both of us in the transaction, I require half the amount up front as a deposit. Upon completion of the portrait, the remaining half is due. When your funds are received, I will send you the portrait.
Photo Details
Capturing personality and details are important to achieving a likeness. With that in mind, your photo reference must meet certain standards:
- Resolution must be at least 800px by 600px (higher resolutions are greatly appreciated)
- No camera phones
- No blurry images
- Natural light is preferred to using a flash
If the portrait is being done posthumously, I will work with you and the references you have.
In addition, several photo references are better than just one. When you send the references, please include a short description of the person.
